Location:
We are located in Southwest Alaska on Fishtrap Lake
(known to us as lake Mulchatna) on the western slope of the southern Alaskan Range.
The lodge is near the head waters of the Mulchatna and Chilakadrotna rivers, known
throughout the world for it's spectacular wildlife populations and it's unmatched
fishing. Specifically, we are 40 miles north of Lake Clark within the Lake Clark
National Park and Preserve and 140 miles southwest of Anchorage. Back

Season: Operating
all year. Facilities:
All buildings are made of local hand-hewn logs and are warm
and dry in both the summer and winter. There are three guest cabins, a bath house
with a shower, and the main lodge with dining and living areas. Meals are prepared
with great care and are often enjoyed while viewing bears, moose, wolves, or great
herds of migrating caribou right from the porch. The Mulchatna caribou herd alone
has over 180,000 animals, making quite a sight when passing by the lodge (especially
when the wolves are in tow).

Fishing, hiking and backpacking, spectacular wildlife
viewing, aerial photography, rafting trips on the Chilakadrotna and Mulchatna
rivers, tours of Dick Proeneke's cabin on Twin Lakes See
Photos (app 20 miles) and RELAXATION. Occasionally bears and wolves chase
caribou and moose right in front of our lodge! Winter brings perfect weather for
ski touring and snowmobiling, while the nights often produce amazing shows of
the Aurora Borealis, also known as the northern lights- a sight to see in themselves.
Weather: Summers
are generally mild, temperatures ranging from 50-80F. It is recommended to bring
raingear due to the inherently unpredictable Alaskan summers. Winter can be quite
variable with temperatures ranging from -50 to +40F. Appropriate winter clothing
is highly recommended. Back
